I'm riding from Bicycles Etc. on Philips with a few folks on 12/30 at 9:30 a.m. The plan is for a ride at a 16-18 mph pace and of 20-30 miles. We'll figure out details at ride time depending on who shows up.
I don't know about RULES but I must admit I've had fun on my first couple of rides. Big attraction for me is the change of pace from the same old routes over and over on the road AND I'm not freezing my hand/feet off!!!!
Mountain biking RULES!!!!!!
you don't have to worry about getting run over by cars.
FYI!! Hanna Park Christmas Morning 9AM. I have 4 people already going so come on out.
Dang, it's been so long since anyone posted here, I quit looking!!!! I guess I'll go through the trouble of resetting my RSS feed for postings. Personally, I've not ridden much since the Horrible Hundred except for a few really short rides and a little mountain biking.
I am still around…actually rode this morning and yesterday morning. Did 21 each day. Short route, but fun. trying this interval training thing I read in Bicycling. Got a whole training thing in there and I decided to actually try it. Maybe in the MS this year it will pay off and I will finish somewhat respectably, (read that as before Tent City is closed). Thanks to Steve, Ben, and Jim for showing up at the MS Awards ceremony on December 3rd at Metro Park. We did right well in the awards department as a team for those of you that didn't show up at the ceremony. See you on the road…cannot wait until it is warm in the AM…I FROZE MY BUTT OFF BOTH MORNINGS, but still had fun riding!!
Hey whats up everybody who still looks at this forum. Just thought id say hi and that i really miss riding with everyone. So keep the rubber on the road and keep logging on the miles.
Hanna Park rides starting at 9AM every Sunday. This is a beginner/Intermediate ride. NOT SUPPER FAST!!!
Every once and a while we will ride out of Ft. Clinch Fernandina Beach and Graham Swamp off of US100 south of Palm Coast.

Does anyone have the dates of the Early Packet Pick ups for the MS 150? I know there is one coming up at the Phillips Store, but Iforget the times. Someone please help…Thanks. By the way, when you ride by teh staion in San Marco, think of me. If the Rescue is in house, I will be there on the trainer pedaling but not going anywhere. If the rescue is not there, I am out earning my pay. Stay safe!
The road debris on San Jose is abundant. It is mainly twigs and small branches, but there is a good amount of it in what amounts to the bike lane. I have driven it several times and once you get to San Marco, and start heading to the bridge, the water is still pooled up on the road edge as well. It is rideable, but would be a bit more treacherous than normal and probably more conducive to flats. I don't think that the normal route would be good right now unfortunately. Unless everyone decided to meet at Friendship Fountain for a Bridge Repeat Ride instead of at the shop. The Bridge area is not that bad. San Marco took a pretty good beating and unless the city cleans it up tonight or tomorrow morning, San Jose and Hendricks and Atlantic are not in the best of shape for riding in the San Marco area. I did see some riders this morning though, but mainly on the bridge. Conversationaly yours, The "All Talk Jayhawk" (that was for you Jim)
Has anyone checked the road debris on San Jose since the storm? I drove up from Baymeadows to University around 2:00 p.m. on Sunday and the road wasn't in very good shape. I'm not sure it'd be very safe to ride unless it's been cleared. So, can someone make a decision and post whether or not we're riding?
I will defer to Captain Cook for the official response on this one. Unless something has changed from last year, it's a "first come, first server" start after the top 3 fund raising teams from last year. If we can get 3-5 people there early enough (and I'm not sure what that means exactly), we should be able to stake out a place in line and then it's "Find the EverBank Jersey" time for everyone else.
I know that this is early, but I was wondering where we are all going to meet up prior to the MS 150 start. I understnad we will have a "compound" for Team Everbank powered by BICYCLES ETC. but where is that going to be placed? This question could be just a bit early right now, but I was sitting here at the staiton and just thought about it….Hope the ride tonight was a good one, I did not see anyone go by, or I just missed you guys when you did. STAY SAFE!!!
JIM…for whatever reason after about three times logging in, I finally got on here….don't know what the deal was, but it is workding now
We'll be having a Team Training ride this coming Sunday from the Bicycles Etc. parking lot on Philips Hwy. All teams are welcome and we'll be doing the same route as last weekend's ride. More information can be found on our training ride page.
We've posted some of the upcoming Bike MS Training rides in the road riding section. Included are the 50 and 62 mile route maps for the upcoming training ride from Bicycles Etc. on 8/2/2008.
Team Everbank will be announcing some additional Sunday training in the near future. Current plans include rides at the beach, Mandarin and St. John's county. If you have any suggestions (e.g. proposed ride routes/locations, distances, speed, etc.), please drop us an e-mail gro.cteselcycibmaet|nimda#gro.cteselcycibmaet|nimda.
On Sunday 8/3, we are planning on participating in the NFBC World Golf Village ride which is well attended and has routes of 37, 43 and 49 miles. For more information check out the NFBC website at www.nfbc.us.
Is there a 50-mile (ok - 48ish) "unofficial" ride on Saturday too? If so, who all is planning on riding 50 miles at about 20 mph?
Joe, you beat an aluminum axle with a hammer? I might be there in the morning. Waiting for a phone call to confirm my availability
